Staib Gallery at the Jacques Kaplan Sculpture Garden, Kent, CT
Jacques Kaplan was a well-established presence in Kent, Connecticut, first establishing the Paris-New York-Kent Gallery in a dry-docked railway caboose just behind the railroad station, and later the PNYK Gallery a few doors down from the Bachelier-Cardonsky Gallery, which was directed by his wife, Violaine and Darby Cardonsky. Long before that, he was a well-known Manhattan furrier and art dealer, creator of “fun fur” and a master of promotion, always. He persuaded us to “come to Kent,” initially by ensconcing a large outdoor sculpture garden on his property. |
