The Philippe Staib Gallery opened on September 23rd, 1989; the first Directors were Catherine Reynal and Marie Busco, assisted by René Grayre, who manned the front desk until taking over as Director in May of 1989.  A small space was already open in Paris, run by Sarita Dubin, who later joined the gallery in New York.
