Philip King
Alas, there was no Phillip KIng exhibition. One was planned and organized for the Fall of 1992, with the blessing and cooperation of the Rowan Gallery in London, and would have been King's first showing in New York since 1966, but politics and unrest in Thailand at the time resulted in the gallery's closing instead. We did, however, contribute to the fine monograph written by Tim Hilton, publication of which was to have coincided with the show's opening. December 2014 marks Phillip King's 80th birthday, and Tate Britain is noting the event with a display of six works from the 1960's in their Duveen Galleries. The display, which opened on December 8th, celebrates King's "significant contribution to late 20th Century sculpture."
